AUDIO SAMPLES

Alexander's Jazz Time Band is an eleven-piece ensemble modeled on the "hot dance bands" of the 1920's and early 1930's. Our programs feature toe-tapping renditions of popular tunes and jazz compositions from the Roaring Twenties, all in authentic period arrangements.

Come on and hear! Alexander's Jazz Time Band will be giving its third annual fall concert at The First Parish of Bolton on Friday, November 8th, 2024. Our program will feature an assortment of dance-band arrangements from 1924-1934, several of which are Jazz-Age takes on pre-1920 standards, such as "My Melancholy Baby" and "Dardanella." Among the show's highlights will be a reconstruction of Bubber Miley's classic 1930 recording of "Black Maria"; Archie Bleyer's virtuosic arrangement of "Some Of These Days" (1931); and Arthur Lange's "Echoes Of Ireland" (1925), a medley of Irish folk tunes in foxtrot rhythm, complete with bagpipe effects!

The concert starts at 7:30 PM and ends around 8:45. It will take place in Davis Hall, at The First Parish of Bolton (673 Main St., Bolton, MA). Parking is in the rear. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
